the rare hip hop song that makes it onto my dash, lol. i’m still trying to figure out if the rapper is black… no matter. this is a collaboration between Sufjan Stevens, Serengeti, & Son Lux. it’s definitely a departure from stevens usual style but he’s the only artist I know without scrolling through my ipod to see if a song sounds familiar. anywho, here’s a really great rap/hip hop song by an interesting group of artists.
‘beyond any doubt’ by s/s/s
this song is so hypnotizing it’s hard not to get sucked in…

‘iron doors’ by the lighthouse and the whaler
i try not to post anything music vids from vevo because reasons. but this video is so expertly done and really makes the song that much more enjoyable that i had to post it. the concept is new, refreshing, fun and the filming and direction are excellent as well. this song was good but the video makes it great. don’t believe me- go to minute 1:50. love that part! mark foster looks so darn familiar to me…maybe because he looks like every guy you meet at a college party.
“houdini” by foster the people
any indie music fan would probably know this band. they were quite big a few years ago. i didn’t know however that the acordian player is the tall snobby sorority president from the show greek on abc family. that show was the joint. made me miss my college years…any whoddle, the band is mostly good. this vid looks like it was recorded in the 70s.
‘home’ by edward sharpe and the magnetic zeros
came across this fantabulous quartet browsing nprmusic’s tiny desk video’s on yt. yo-yo ma and company do not disappoint. i personally have a love affair with string instruments, but even if you don’t love bluegrass, you can hear the beauty in this and the rest of the album- the goat rodeo sessions.
‘attaboy’ by Yo-Yo Ma, Stuart Duncan, Edgar Meyer & Chris Thile
finally found the song from the adidas commercial. it happened to play on music choice. all those weeks of shazam’ing were for naught.
‘so good’ by b.o.b.
realized i never posted about coachella
i watched live on YT…not all shows are broadcast.
i completely forgot about day 1 :/ i missed seeing the givers but ‘up, up, up’ is really the only spectacular song on their album.
day 2: i watched we were promised jetpacks- not bad, i hadn’t heard of them b4. awolnation- switch off an on, some tolerable, some not. andrew bird- i like him/them, enjoy the set. miike snow- 1 thumb up, and lykke li was there so that was nice…’animal’ remains a fucking awesome song. radiohead- i’m not a radiohead fan (i know…blasphemy) but i hung in there to watch. being on the east coast that was no small feat. there were some songs i had to mute but from what i heard, i liked. i couldn’t stay put long enough to hear ‘creep.’ :(
i was disappointed we are augustines did not play on YT. they had the best album of last year, IMO…tied with CWK “Mine Is Yours.”
oh, i forgot laura marling- she was awesome-sauce. i will post vids later if they have um. i forgot about the big pink too- i like it but missed ‘stay gold.’
day 3: first fanfarlo was not broadcast. but their new stuff is shit soooooo i guess i can’t be too disappointed. i honestly don’t remember everyone i watched this day. fitz and the tantrums lead dude was annoying as hell…as hayle! the chick had mellowed out some compared to previous performances. the weeknd- dude sounds just like micheal jackson. i couldn’t really get past that…it was kinda creepy.
beirut was who i was DYING to see. boy oh boy, what a disappointment. it was fucking terrible. omg, it was bad. the whole time i was like “are they serious, can they not hear that.” i thought i was losing my mind it was so bad. they are like a 15 piece band or some shit and each person was playing to their own damn tempo. they were so off. i know i can’t be the only person who thought that. ugh. maybe they got a new drummer… i really wanted to see them live, but nvm, i can live without that.
i didn’t stay up for florence + the machine nor did i for snoop, dre, and pac. i heard the news the next day though…should have stuck it out. sings…”come with meeeee, hail mary. run quicksey, hail mary.” i know those aren’t the damn words but i was 12 when that song came out, okay.
i had no idea an AA group sang this song. :D
‘Alouette’ by The Delta Rhythm Boys
cool song, cool song. i’m running out of thoughtful things to say about my music picks. just listen to it, mmmmkay?

usher is only amazing when there’s a woman breaking his heart. love this new song. i was skeptical because of the title but this is ‘confessions’ usher.
‘climax’ by usher
in honor of adam levine’s new found singledom. he’s free to roam the streets ladies…if you’re close to 6’ and <100 lbs it could be you! here’s one the last decent songs they’ve done from the b side of their terrible 2nd album.
‘losing my mind’ by maroon 5
a song i could get addicted to.
‘i am a heart’ by hey ocean (live for cbc radio)
